Ourika Valley and Oukaimeden

Oukaimeden is the highest ski resort in Africa at 3200m and probably one of the most original places to go skiing or snowboarding in the world. It’s very popular both among foreign tourists and Moroccan skiers. You can rent equipment for skiing and snowboarding on the way, if you do not want to carry all the way from home or the fancy strikes suddenly to ski in Morocco. Snowfall is between December to April and you can ski on a plateau of about 750 hectares. The slopes are suitable for all types of ski-ing, of course there is no obligation to ski, but it is a nice place just to stroll or take the lifts for the sake of the wonderful views of the High Atlas.It is also a lovely place to visit during the spring to see, full of Berber gardens, fields and orchards of apples, pears, pomegranates and walnuts. This is an ideal destination for lunch on the banks of the river.  The valleys are connected by mules – another type of adventure! Apart from this there is an observatory and 4000 year old petroglyphs to visit. Oukaimden is also off set point for hikers to Ourika valley, Asni and the ascent of Toubkal.
