4 Day Tour

MAGNIFICENT MOROCCO

Tour Details:
This tour is interchangeable for pickup from Casablanca, Marrakech or Fes.
 

Day1 – Depart Marrakech to travel to Dades Gorge, approximately 5 hours travel.

Highlights along the way will include:-

  • Tzi Nitchka pass in the High Atlas mountain’s, 2260m above sea level. The road across the mountains is all switchback’s, so you can stop and see where you have been and where you are going. It was once part of the Silk Road.

  • Numerous spectacular photo opportunites along the way.

  • The mountain town of Ourazazat where many Hollywood films have been produced, Lawrence of Arabia, Queen of the Desert (Nicole Kidman) , The Mummy, Salmon Fishing in Yemen and many more.  Game of Thrones also used many different locations in Morocco for filming.

  • A visit to Ait Ben Haddou, the World Heritage Unesco site. The Glaoui family have occupied this famous Kasbah for hundreds of years. A great place to explore and have lunch.

  • You will enjoy a coffee break at Kalaat Mgouna, which hosts an annual Roses Festival in May.

  • This road is called The Road of a Thousand Kasbahs and you will also pass through many mud brick villages.

  • Then continue on to your hotel in the heart of  Dades Gorge. There will be time for a walk along the river valley farms, next to the river.

Overnight Dades, breakfast and dinner included.

Day 2 – Depart Dades for Merzouga, approximately 3 hours travel.

  • Before leaving the area you will have great photo opportunities of the lush Dades River Valley farms, the Monkey Toes Rock formations and abandoned Kasbahs. You will also visit Todra Gorge. Climbers come from across the world to climb the cliffs in Todra.

  • You will travel through many mud brick villages before arriving at Rissani and Erfoud, the desert towns near Merzouga where you will be able to explore the local souk.

  • After check in at your hotel in Merzouga, there will be time for a walk or relax with a glass of mint tea or a coffee.

Overnight Merzouga, breakfast and dinner included.

Day 3 – Today your driver will take you:-

  • On an extended tour around the Dunes where you may meet a nomad family with their goats.

  • You will visit Hamllia Village and be entertained with traditional Gnaou music played by the villagers. The people of Hamlia immigrated from southern Africa hundreds of years ago and their descendants still live in the village.

  • Nora’s Café is a great place for lunch and you can try a delicious Berber Pizza.

  • The Merzouga Gallery is also good to visit. Two local artists live and work there and they produce many different types of art.

  • In the afternoon you will visit a local family in Erfoud for tea and dates.

  • Late afternoon you will meet your camel to trek into the Sahara and watch the sunset on your way to camp.

  • After dinner you will be entertained by the camel drivers with drums and singing of traditional songs.

  • The sky will be very clear and you will be able to lie on your back and count the stars.

Overnight Merzouga Camp, breakfast and dinner included.

 

Day 4 – Early rise to travel to Fez, approximately 7 hours.

  • Your camels will take you back to hotel as the sunrises and you will have really good photos of the magnificent Erg Chebbi.

  • After breakfast you will travel to Fez via the Ziz Valley. The Ziz Valley is covered in date palms and is very beautiful.

  • You will pass through Tizi Ntalghamt pass before we stop for lunch in Zaida.

  • We continue on to Azrou with a stop in the Cedar Forest to visit the Barbary Apes who will be happy to see you (if you have food).

  • Next stop will be Ifrane, the Swiss village in Morocco, some more photos with their famous lion and a coffee then on to Fez and your accommodation.

  • END OF TOUR

This tour includes:- 4 breakfasts, 3 dinners, all transportation in comfortable, modern 4wd vehicle.

It does not include meals not listed above, tips or entry fees if required.

The best time to travel in Morocco is between February and May or September and November.
However, our tours are available all year round and we are able to mix and match, to suit all requirements.
